On Sunday, December 27, 2015, JobTrain mourned the passing of longtime friend and partner John Gachina, President of Gachina Landscape Management, our neighbor in Menlo Park, CA.

In the words of Denise Ritch, Human Resources Director at Gachina Landscape Management, “John loved JobTrain and the work that your organization is doing for our community.  He especially valued the partnership between The Farm and the Culinary Program.  The Gachina Family would like to announce that donations made in John’s name would honor his commitment to JobTrain.”

The students, staff, and Board of JobTrain send their deepest condolences to John’s family, friends and colleagues.

Gachina Landscape Management

An interesting fact about the ‘Clivia miniata’—it’s origins in California can all be traced back to the year 1907 and to a man by the name of Zimmerman, who possibly brought the seeds with him when he migrated to Carlsbad from Germany. They grow beautifully in our California climate, and supposedly at the San Francisco World’s Fair in 1939, Zimmerman entered 500 stalks of them and won a gold medal 🥇 for his display. These beauties are quite stunning. 🤩
