Plant of the week 5.16 – 5.20 ~ Creeping Bobialla / Myoporum
Plant of the week 5.16 – 5.20 ~ Creeping Bobialla / Myoporum ~ Myoporum parvifolium is an evergreen ground cover with low to medium water requirements and thrives in full sun. Other Myoporum are shrubs/trees which have been greatly impacted by the species specific Myoporum Thrips, which are very difficult to control. The groundcover is less effected than the shrubs/trees, and are still planted widely in our landscapes. Myoporum have tiny white or pink flowers in the summer. Natural pruning is recommended; after some years in the landscape, this plant will become woody. At this point, we perform restorative pruning, or remove and replace for a fresh, green look.
