Plant of the week 5.16 – 5.20 ~ Creeping Bobialla / Myoporum

Creeping Bobialla / MyoporumPlant of the week 5.16 – 5.20 ~ Creeping Bobialla / Myoporum ~ Myoporum parvifolium is an evergreen ground cover with low to medium water requirements and thrives in full sun.  Other Myoporum are shrubs/trees which have been greatly impacted by the species specific Myoporum Thrips, which are very difficult to control.  The groundcover is less effected than the shrubs/trees, and are still planted widely in our landscapes.  Myoporum have tiny white or pink flowers in the summer. Natural pruning is recommended; after some years in the landscape, this plant will become woody.  At this point, we perform restorative pruning, or remove and replace for a fresh, green look.

Gachina Landscape Management

Organic compost from our very own Gachina Farm. Rescape Principle #3: Nurture Soil...soils are living ecosystems and when landscape practices allow the soil food web to thrive it can filter pollution, store water, provide plant nutrients, and help plants resist pests naturally.
