June is National Safety Awareness Month, Gachina believes in Safety First!
June is safety awareness month and Gachina Landscape Management believes in Safety First! Observed annually in June by the National Safety Council, National Safety Month focuses on reducing leading causes of injury and death at work, on the road and in our homes and communities. Throughout the month of June, we have implemented the following programs to reward and encourage safety.
1 KICK OFF TRAINING MEETING: The Program was introduced to all employees to generate excitement, get company-wide buy in and increase safety awareness.
2 RAFFLE TO WIN ATTRACTIVE PRIZES: Workers are encouraged to participate in the raffle by:
- * No involvement in any accident/injury during the month;
- * Picture from the field wearing full PPE while doing a maintenance activity;
- * Passing a Field safety inspection done by Supervisor.
Peninsula Branch raffled six new bikes – one to each supervisor – to reward their teams for an excellent safety record.
3 BUTTONS: Metallic buttons with the Gachina Logo and the phrase Safety First! were distributed. Employees have been proudly displaying on their vests.
4 SAFETY FAIR: The Peninsula Branch held it’s second annual safety fair June 8th. The Peninsula Branch is proudly celebrating no accidents or injuries in 2018. Congratulations! Ten stations were created to review 10 important safety items and groups rotated for 15 minutes training sessions on each. Managers set up each station and employees were highly encouraged to participate. Safety training topics included:
Lifting Techniques
Hedge Trimmer
Mowers
Pesticides/Fertilization
